Growing up, my mom kept my and my sister’s hair LAID.  It means “very well styled” for those of you who don’t know.  It got to be that my hairstyles were based on my grades, then my behavior, then….  It just got out of control (Sorry Mom).  I couldn’t get right.  I’d manage to keep good grades, but then my sassy personality would get me into trouble.  This means my hair was looking BAD. LOL.  I would not stand for this treatment to my Crown any further, and decided to do my own hair.  Well let’s say, it took some time to get that right, but I eventually perfected it!  I’d learn to control my sass (because it was the right thing to do), but I’d learned a lucrative skill in the process.

Years later, I bought my first cell phone (this was a big deal in 2002 – don’t you dare laugh) and my first car as a result of not getting what I want.  

When I got to college, the motto was:

FIND A WAY OR MAKE ONE.

I don’t give up.  Story of my life.
